On 27 January 2026, SME Connect will host a high-level panel discussion in Brussels titled “The Visibility Crisis: How the Digital Markets Act is Impacting Europe’s SMEs.” The event will examine how changes driven by the Digital Markets Act (DMA) are reshaping online visibility, market access and competition for SMEs across sectors such as retail, travel and hospitality.
Hosted by Vladimir Prebilič MEP, the discussion will bring together policymakers, industry representatives and digital stakeholders to assess how compliance-driven redesigns of search and discovery features affect SMEs’ ability to reach consumers online, and what evidence is needed to evaluate whether the DMA is delivering fairer competition in practice.
EuroCommerce will be represented by Niccolò Ciulli, Advisor for Competitiveness and Commercial Relations, who will contribute insights from the retail and consumer goods perspective, highlighting the growing challenges SMEs face in securing online visibility—particularly on mobile devices—and the implications for costs, competition and consumer choice.
