Role overview

EuroCommerce is looking for an experienced economist to lead our research and economics agenda. In this role, you will translate a wide range of data sources into accessible and actionable insights that inform our audiences, support our advocacy, and highlight the vital contribution of retail and wholesale to Europe’s economy and competitiveness. You will lead flagship studies, manage research partnerships, and provide analyses that position EuroCommerce as a go-to reference point for the sector in Brussels and beyond.

Key Responsabilities

  • Research & data storytelling: Collect and consolidate relevant market data to document the sector, its contribution and performance; develop and update fact-based publications for members and / or public audiences; support your colleagues and members with data needs.
  • Networks & partnerships: Manage content creation in projects and lead external research with partners such as our annual State of Grocery retail report; serve a network of economists from national associations
  • Communication & Advocacy: Provide fact-based insights and data storytelling that helps develop and support the organisation’s policy and advocacy work; produce and contribute to flagship reports read by policymakers, journalists and business leaders.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least 5 years relevant experience in industry, retail / wholesale, data provider, market research agency or management consulting firm, Think Tank or membership-based organisation.
  • Relevant university degree (e.g., economics, management, business school) and a genuine interest for retail and wholesale.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in other EU languages is a plus.
  • Experience in leading research activities and studies.
  • Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle figures and translate them into communication-friendly material.
