EuroCommerce joins call for swift conclusion of EU-Indonesia CEPA

Position paper - Public Letters - Trade

5 February 2025

EuroCommerce, as a member of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) Coalition, is among 18 Associations urging European Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič to accelerate the finalisation of the CEPA between the EU and Indonesia. The coalition, representing a wide array of sectors from both regions, highlights the agreement’s transformative potential for trade and economic cooperation. Negotiations for CEPA began on 18 July 2016, with the 19th round held in July 2024.

The CEPA aims to reduce trade barriers, enhance intellectual property protections, and promote a sustainable and inclusive agenda, fostering innovation, investment, and job creation. To unlock its full benefits, the agreement must deliver meaningful market access for all represented sectors without exclusions. Finalising the CEPA will pave the way for mutual growth, supporting sustainable development and strengthening economic ties between the EU and Indonesia.
