EuroCommerce Narrative on Retail and Wholesale in a changing world…

The world is changing rapidly. Retailers and wholesalers have repeatedly shown how resilient and adaptive they are, and are moving ahead with embracing this change, providing value to customers, suppliers, and society at large. This great story is worth telling – both to the sector and to the wider world. And the story needs to say clearly what we want from the EU and from national governments to make our sector sustainably competitive.


In EuroCommerce we have decided to focus for the next three years on six strategic areas to deliver the most important outcomes for our members:

1. The digital transformation,

2. Europe and its Single Market,

3. Commercial relations and supply chain issues,

4. Environmental and social sustainability,

5. Global trade, and

6. People and skills.

All six areas are interlinked and are drivers of fundamental change in our world of retail and wholesale. We have developed a narrative that tells this three-chapter story describing  the challenges, how the sector is living up to them, and how regulators and governments can help us do so. The main narrative gives an overview of this story in these six areas, and over the coming months, we will be adding to this with specific narratives on each of them.
